People in the Quran

The Quran names many figures—often aligning with biblical tradition, sometimes with distinct emphasis or detail. Use these notes for cross-surah study and links to places and surahs.

  • Muḥammad — recipient of revelation (mentioned by name and epithet Aḥmad in exegesis of certain verses)
  • Mūsā — Moses, a major prophetic line
  • Ibrāhīm — Abraham, father of the ḥanīf line
  • ʿĪsā — Jesus in Quranic presentation
  • Maryam — Mary, by name and narrative prominence

Notes generated or updated from .dev/data/quran/people_places.json can include quranic_refs (surah:ayah) pairs. Run uv run .dev/scripts/link_atlas_source_verses.py to merge refs into frontmatter and insert ## Quranic references (seed) with surah/ayah wikilinks.
