Surah 85: Al-Buruj
البروج
Ayah 1
By the sky containing great stars
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ Wassama-i thatialburooj — 🔊
Ayah 2
And [by] the promised Day
وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ Walyawmi almawAAood — 🔊
Ayah 3
And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ Washahidin wamashhood — 🔊
Ayah 4
Destroyed [i.e., cursed] were the companions of the trench1
قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ Qutila as-habu alukhdood — 🔊
Ayah 5
[Containing] the fire full of fuel,
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ Annari thati alwaqood — 🔊
Ayah 6
When they were sitting near it.
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ Ith hum AAalayha quAAood — 🔊
Ayah 7
And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 1
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ Wahum AAala ma yafAAaloona bilmu/mineenashuhood — 🔊
Ayah 8
And they resented them not except because they believed in Allāh, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,
وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ Wama naqamoo minhum illa anyu/minoo billahi alAAazeezi alhameed — 🔊
Ayah 9
To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allāh, over all things, is Witness
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ Allathee lahu mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wallahu AAala kullishay-in shaheed — 🔊
Ayah 10
Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ Inna allatheena fatanoo almu/mineenawalmu/minati thumma lam yatooboo falahum AAathabujahannama walahum AAathabu alhareeq — 🔊
Ayah 11
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ Inna allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati lahum jannatuntajree min tahtiha al-anharu thalikaalfawzu alkabeer — 🔊
Ayah 12
Indeed, the assault [i.e., vengeance] of your Lord is severe.
إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ Inna batsha rabbika lashadeed — 🔊
Ayah 13
Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ Innahu huwa yubdi-o wayuAAeed — 🔊
Ayah 14
And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,
وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ Wahuwa alghafooru alwadood — 🔊
Ayah 15
Honorable Owner of the Throne,
ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ Thoo alAAarshi almajeed — 🔊
Ayah 16
Effecter of what He intends.
فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ FaAAAAalun lima yureed — 🔊
Ayah 17
Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ Hal ataka hadeethu aljunood — 🔊
Ayah 18
[Those of] Pharaoh and Thamūd?
فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ FirAAawna wathamood — 🔊
Ayah 19
But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ Bali allatheena kafaroo fee taktheeb — 🔊
Ayah 20
While Allāh encompasses them from behind
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ Wallahu min wara-ihimmuheet — 🔊
Ayah 21
But this is an honored Qur’ān
بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ Bal huwa qur-anun majeed — 🔊
Ayah 22
[Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.
فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ Fee lawhin mahfooth — 🔊
