Surah 26: Ash-Shu’ara
الشعراء
Ayah 1
Ṭā, Seen, Meem
طسٓمٓ Ta-seen-meem — 🔊
Ayah 2
These are the verses of the clear Book.
تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ Tilka ayatu alkitabialmubeen — 🔊
Ayah 3
Perhaps, [O Muḥammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
لَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ LaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka allayakoonoo mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 4
If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled
إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَـٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَـٰضِعِينَ In nasha/ nunazzil AAalayhim mina assama-iayatan fathallat aAAnaquhum lahakhadiAAeen — 🔊
Ayah 5
And no mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ Wama ya/teehim min thikrin minaarrahmani muhdathin illa kanooAAanhu muAArideen — 🔊
Ayah 6
For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ Faqad kaththaboo fasaya/teehim anbaoma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oon — 🔊
Ayah 7
Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ Awa lam yaraw ila al-ardi kamanbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareem — 🔊
Ayah 8
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 9
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem — 🔊
Ayah 10
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], “Go to the wrongdoing people -
وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ Wa-ith nada rabbukamoosa ani i/ti alqawma aththalimeen — 🔊
Ayah 11
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allāh?”
قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ Qawma firAAawna ala yattaqoon — 🔊
Ayah 12
He said, “My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ Qala rabbi innee akhafu anyukaththiboon — 🔊
Ayah 13
And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَـٰرُونَ Wayadeequ sadree walayantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroon — 🔊
Ayah 14
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me.”
وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafuan yaqtuloon — 🔊
Ayah 15
[Allāh] said, “No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَٱذْهَبَا بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ Qala kalla fathhababi-ayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 16
Go to Pharaoh and say, ‘We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Fa/tiya firAAawna faqoola innarasoolu rabbi alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 17
[Commanded to say], “Send with us the Children of Israel.”‘”
أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ An arsil maAAana banee isra-eel — 🔊
Ayah 18
[Pharaoh] said, “Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ Qala alam nurabbika feenawaleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineen — 🔊
Ayah 19
And [then] you did your deed which you did and you were of the ungrateful.”
وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAaltawaanta mina alkafireen — 🔊
Ayah 20
[Moses] said, “I did it, then, while I was of those astray [i.e., ignorant].
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ Qala faAAaltuha ithanwaana mina addalleen — 🔊
Ayah 21
So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me judgement [i.e., wisdom and prophet hood] and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukumfawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 22
And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?”
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayyaan AAabbadta banee isra-eel — 🔊
Ayah 23
Said Pharaoh, “And what is the Lord of the worlds?”
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 24
[Moses] said, “The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced.”
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ Qala rabbu assamawatiwal-ardi wama baynahuma in kuntummooqineen — 🔊
Ayah 25
[Pharaoh] said to those around him, “Do you not hear?”
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ Qala liman hawlahu alatastamiAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 26
[Moses] said, “Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers.”
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Qala rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumual-awwaleen — 🔊
Ayah 27
[Pharaoh] said “Indeed, your ‘messenger’ who has been sent to you is mad.”
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ Qala inna rasoolakumu allatheeorsila ilaykum lamajnoon — 🔊
Ayah 28
[Moses] said, “Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason.”
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ Qala rabbu almashriqi walmaghribiwama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloon — 🔊
Ayah 29
[Pharaoh] said, “If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned.”
قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ Qala la-ini ittakhathta ilahanghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneen — 🔊
Ayah 30
[Moses] said, “Even if I brought you something [i.e., proof] manifest?”
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ Qala awa law ji/tuka bishay-in mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 31
[Pharaoh] said, “Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful.”
قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ Qala fa/ti bihi in kunta mina assadiqeen — 🔊
Ayah 32
So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ Faalqa AAasahu fa-ithahiya thuAAbanun mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 33
And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ WanazaAAa yadahu fa-itha hiya baydaolinnathireen — 🔊
Ayah 34
[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, “Indeed, this is a learned magician.
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ Qala lilmala-i hawlahu inna hathalasahirun AAaleem — 🔊
Ayah 35
He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?”
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikumbisihrihi famatha ta/muroon — 🔊
Ayah 36
They said, “Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ Qaloo arjih waakhahu wabAAathfee almada-ini hashireen — 🔊
Ayah 37
Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician.”
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ Ya/tooka bikulli sahharin AAaleem — 🔊
Ayah 38
So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day
فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ FajumiAAa assaharatu limeeqatiyawmin maAAloom — 🔊
Ayah 39
And it was said to the people, “Will you congregate.
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ Waqeela linnasi hal antummujtamiAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 40
That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?”
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ LaAAallana nattabiAAu assaharatain kanoo humu alghalibeen — 🔊
Ayah 41
And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, “Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?”
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ Falamma jaa assaharatuqaloo lifirAAawna a-inna lana laajran in kunnanahnu alghalibeen — 🔊
Ayah 42
He said, “Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me].”
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ Qala naAAam wa-innakum ithanlamina almuqarrabeen — 🔊
Ayah 43
Moses said to them, “Throw whatever you will throw.”
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ Qala lahum moosa alqoo maantum mulqoon — 🔊
Ayah 44
So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, “By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant.”
فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahumwaqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnualghaliboon — 🔊
Ayah 45
Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ Faalqa moosa AAasahufa-itha hiya talqafu ma ya/fikoon — 🔊
Ayah 46
So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allāh].
فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَـٰجِدِينَ Faolqiya assaharatu sajideen — 🔊
Ayah 47
They said, “We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,
قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Qaloo amanna birabbialAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 48
The Lord of Moses and Aaron.”
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ Rabbi moosa waharoon — 🔊
Ayah 49
[Pharaoh] said, “You believed him [i.e., Moses] before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all.”
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ Qala amantum lahu qabla an athanalakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu assihrafalasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakummin khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeen — 🔊
Ayah 50
They said, “No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ Qaloo la dayra innaila rabbina munqaliboon — 🔊
Ayah 51
Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers.”
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰيَـٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lanarabbuna khatayana an kunnaawwala almu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 52
And We inspired to Moses, “Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued.”
۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ Waawhayna ila moosaan asri biAAibadee innakum muttabaAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 53
Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers1
فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ Faarsala firAAawnu fee almada-ini hashireen — 🔊
Ayah 54
[And said], “Indeed, those are but a small band,
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ Inna haola-i lashirthimatunqaleeloon — 🔊
Ayah 55
And indeed, they are enraging us,
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ Wa-innahum lana lagha-ithoon — 🔊
Ayah 56
And indeed, we are a cautious society…”
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ Wa-inna lajameeAAun hathiroon — 🔊
Ayah 57
So We removed them from gardens and springs
فَأَخْرَجْنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ Faakhrajnahum min jannatinwaAAuyoon — 🔊
Ayah 58
And treasures and honorable station -
وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareem — 🔊
Ayah 59
Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.
كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ Kathalika waawrathnahabanee isra-eel — 🔊
Ayah 60
So they pursued them at sunrise.
فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ FaatbaAAoohum mushriqeen — 🔊
Ayah 61
And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, “Indeed, we are to be overtaken!”
فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا ٱلْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ Falamma taraa aljamAAaniqala as-habu moosa innalamudrakoon — 🔊
Ayah 62
[Moses] said, “No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.”
قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ Qala kalla inna maAAiya rabbeesayahdeen — 🔊
Ayah 63
Then We inspired to Moses, “Strike with your staff the sea,” and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ Faawhayna ila moosaani idrib biAAasaka albahra fanfalaqafakana kullu firqin kattawdi alAAatheem — 🔊
Ayah 64
And We advanced thereto the others [i.e., the pursuers].
وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ Waazlafna thamma al-akhareen — 🔊
Ayah 65
And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.
وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ Waanjayna moosa waman maAAahuajmaAAeen — 🔊
Ayah 66
Then We drowned the others.
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ Thumma aghraqna al-akhareen — 🔊
Ayah 67
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 68
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem — 🔊
Ayah 69
And recite to them the news of Abraham,
وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Watlu AAalayhim nabaa ibraheem — 🔊
Ayah 70
When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?”
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi mataAAbudoon — 🔊
Ayah 71
They said, “We worship idols and remain to them devoted.”
قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِينَ Qaloo naAAbudu asnamanfanathallu laha AAakifeen — 🔊
Ayah 72
He said, “Do they hear you when you supplicate?
قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ Qala hal yasmaAAoonakum ithtadAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 73
Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?”
أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ Aw yanfaAAoonakum aw yadurroon — 🔊
Ayah 74
They said, “But we found our fathers doing thus.”
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ Qaloo bal wajadna abaanakathalika yafAAaloon — 🔊
Ayah 75
He said, “Then do you see what you have been worshipping,
قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ Qala afaraaytum ma kuntumtaAAbudoon — 🔊
Ayah 76
You and your ancient forefathers?
أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ Antum waabaokumu al-aqdamoon — 🔊
Ayah 77
Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds
فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Fa-innahum AAaduwwun lee illa rabbaalAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 78
Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ Allathee khalaqanee fahuwa yahdeen — 🔊
Ayah 79
And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.
وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ Wallathee huwa yutAAimuneewayasqeen — 🔊
Ayah 80
And when I am ill, it is He who cures me
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ Wa-itha maridtu fahuwayashfeen — 🔊
Ayah 81
And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life
وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ Wallathee yumeetunee thummayuhyeen — 🔊
Ayah 82
And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense.”
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ Wallathee atmaAAu anyaghfira lee khatee-atee yawma addeen — 🔊
Ayah 83
[And he said], “My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ Rabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqneebissaliheen — 🔊
Ayah 84
And grant me a mention [i.e., reputation] of honor among later generations.
وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ WajAAal lee lisana sidqinfee al-akhireen — 🔊
Ayah 85
And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.
وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ WajAAalnee min warathati jannati annaAAeem — 🔊
Ayah 86
And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.
وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ Waghfir li-abee innahu kanamina addalleen — 🔊
Ayah 87
And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -
وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ Wala tukhzinee yawma yubAAathoon — 🔊
Ayah 88
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ Yawma la yanfaAAu malun walabanoon — 🔊
Ayah 89
But only one who comes to Allāh with a sound heart.”
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ Illa man ata Allahabiqalbin saleem — 🔊
Ayah 90
And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.
وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ Waozlifati aljannatu lilmuttaqeen — 🔊
Ayah 91
And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ Waburrizati aljaheemu lilghaween — 🔊
Ayah 92
And it will be said to them, “Where are those you used to worship
وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ Waqeela lahum ayna ma kuntumtaAAbudoon — 🔊
Ayah 93
Other than Allāh? Can they help you or help themselves?”
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ Min dooni Allahi hal yansuroonakumaw yantasiroon — 🔊
Ayah 94
So they will be overturned into it [i.e., Hellfire], they and the deviators
فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ Fakubkiboo feeha hum walghawoon — 🔊
Ayah 95
And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.
وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ Wajunoodu ibleesa ajmaAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 96
They will say while they dispute therein,
قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ Qaloo wahum feeha yakhtasimoon — 🔊
Ayah 97
“By Allāh, we were indeed in manifest error
تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ Tallahi in kunna lafeedalalin mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 98
When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.
إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Ith nusawweekum birabbi alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 99
And no one misguided us except the criminals.
وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ Wama adallana illaalmujrimoon — 🔊
Ayah 100
So now we have no intercessors
فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَـٰفِعِينَ Fama lana min shafiAAeen — 🔊
Ayah 101
And not a devoted friend.
وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ Wala sadeeqin hameem — 🔊
Ayah 102
Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers…“1
فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Falaw anna lana karratan fanakoonamina almu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 103
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 104
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem — 🔊
Ayah 105
The people of Noah denied the messengers1
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Kaththabat qawmu noohinalmursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 106
When their brother Noah said to them, “Will you not fear Allāh?
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Ith qala lahum akhoohum noohunala tattaqoon — 🔊
Ayah 107
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ Innee lakum rasoolun ameen — 🔊
Ayah 108
So fear Allāh and obey me.
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 109
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 110
So fear Allāh and obey me.”
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 111
They said, “Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?”
۞ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ Qaloo anu/minu laka wattabaAAakaal-arthaloon — 🔊
Ayah 112
He said, “And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?
قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِى بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ Qala wama AAilmee bimakanoo yaAAmaloon — 🔊
Ayah 113
Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.
إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّى ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ In hisabuhum illa AAalarabbee law tashAAuroon — 🔊
Ayah 114
And I am not one to drive away the believers.
وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Wama ana bitaridialmu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 115
I am only a clear warner.”
إِنْ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ In ana illa natheerunmubeen — 🔊
Ayah 116
They said, “If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned.”
قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَرْجُومِينَ Qaloo la-in lam tantahi yanoohu latakoonanna mina almarjoomeen — 🔊
Ayah 117
He said, “My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ Qala rabbi inna qawmee kaththaboon — 🔊
Ayah 118
Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers.”
فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Faftah baynee wabaynahum fathanwanajjinee waman maAAiya mina almu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 119
So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ Faanjaynahu waman maAAahu feealfulki almashhoon — 🔊
Ayah 120
Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ Thumma aghraqna baAAdu albaqeen — 🔊
Ayah 121
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 122
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem — 🔊
Ayah 123
ʿAad denied the messengers
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Kaththabat AAadun almursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 124
When their brother Hūd said to them, “Will you not fear Allāh?
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Ith qala lahum akhoohumhoodun ala tattaqoon — 🔊
Ayah 125
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ Innee lakum rasoolun ameen — 🔊
Ayah 126
So fear Allāh and obey me.
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 127
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 128
Do you construct on every elevation a sign amusing yourselves,
أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةً تَعْبَثُونَ Atabnoona bikulli reeAAin ayatantaAAbathoon — 🔊
Ayah 129
And take for yourselves constructions [i.e., palaces and fortresses] that you might abide eternally?
وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ Watattakhithoona masaniAAalaAAallakum takhludoon — 🔊
Ayah 130
And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.
وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ Wa-itha batashtum batashtumjabbareen — 🔊
Ayah 131
So fear Allāh and obey me.
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 132
And fear He who provided you with that which you know,
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ Wattaqoo allathee amaddakumbima taAAlamoon — 🔊
Ayah 133
Provided you with grazing livestock and children
أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَـٰمٍ وَبَنِينَ Amaddakum bi-anAAamin wabaneen — 🔊
Ayah 134
And gardens and springs.
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ Wajannatin waAAuyoon — 🔊
Ayah 135
Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day.”
إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ Innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathabayawmin AAatheem — 🔊
Ayah 136
They said, “It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.
قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ Qaloo sawaon AAalaynaawaAAathta am lam takun mina alwaAAitheen — 🔊
Ayah 137
This is not but the custom of the former peoples,
إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ In hatha illa khuluqual-awwaleen — 🔊
Ayah 138
And we are not to be punished.”
وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ Wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeen — 🔊
Ayah 139
And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Fakaththaboohu faahlaknahuminna fee thalika laayatan wama kanaaktharuhum mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 140
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem — 🔊
Ayah 141
Thamūd denied the messengers
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Kaththabat thamoodu almursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 142
When their brother Ṣāliḥ said to them, “Will you not fear Allāh?
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَـٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Ith qala lahum akhoohum salihunala tattaqoon — 🔊
Ayah 143
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ Innee lakum rasoolun ameen — 🔊
Ayah 144
So fear Allāh and obey me.
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 145
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 146
Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],
أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَـٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ Atutrakoona fee ma hahunaamineen — 🔊
Ayah 147
Within gardens and springs
فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ Fee jannatin waAAuyoon — 🔊
Ayah 148
And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?
وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ WazurooAAin wanakhlin talAAuhahadeem — 🔊
Ayah 149
And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَـٰرِهِينَ Watanhitoona mina aljibalibuyootan fariheen — 🔊
Ayah 150
So fear Allāh and obey me.
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 151
And do not obey the order of the transgressors,
وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ Wala tuteeAAoo amraalmusrifeen — 🔊
Ayah 152
Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend.”
ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ Allatheena yufsidoona fee al-ardiwala yuslihoon — 🔊
Ayah 153
They said, “You are only of those affected by magic.
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareen — 🔊
Ayah 154
You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful.”
مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ Ma anta illa basharun mithlunafa/ti bi-ayatin in kunta mina assadiqeena — 🔊
Ayah 155
He said, “This is a she-camel For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.
قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ Qala hathihi naqatunlaha shirbun walakum shirbu yawmin maAAloom — 🔊
Ayah 156
And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day.”
وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ Wala tamassooha bisoo-infaya/khuthakum AAathabu yawmin AAatheem — 🔊
Ayah 157
But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِينَ FaAAaqarooha faasbahoonadimeen — 🔊
Ayah 158
And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Faakhathahumu alAAathabu innafee thalika laayatan wama kanaaktharuhum mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 159
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem — 🔊
Ayah 160
The people of Lot denied the messengers
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Kaththabat qawmu lootinalmursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 161
When their brother Lot said to them, “Will you not fear Allāh?
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Ith qala lahum akhoohum lootunala tattaqoon — 🔊
Ayah 162
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ Innee lakum rasoolun ameen — 🔊
Ayah 163
So fear Allāh and obey me.
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 164
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 165
Do you approach males among the worlds1
أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Ata/toona aththukranamina alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 166
And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing.”
وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ Watatharoona ma khalaqa lakumrabbukum min azwajikum bal antum qawmun AAadoon — 🔊
Ayah 167
They said, “If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted.”
قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ Qaloo la-in lam tantahi yalootu latakoonanna mina almukhrajeen — 🔊
Ayah 168
He said, “Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it].
قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَالِينَ Qala innee liAAamalikum mina alqaleen — 🔊
Ayah 169
My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do.”
رَبِّ نَجِّنِى وَأَهْلِى مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ Rabbi najjinee waahlee mimmayaAAmaloon — 🔊
Ayah 170
So We saved him and his family, all,
فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ Fanajjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeen — 🔊
Ayah 171
Except an old woman among those who remained behind.
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireen — 🔊
Ayah 172
Then We destroyed the others.
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ Thumma dammarna al-akhareen — 🔊
Ayah 173
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ Waamtarna AAalayhim mataranfasaa mataru almunthareen — 🔊
Ayah 174
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 175
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem — 🔊
Ayah 176
The companions of the thicket [i.e., the people of Madyan] denied the messengers
كَذَّبَ أَصْحَـٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Kaththaba as-habual-aykati almursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 177
When Shuʿayb said to them, “Will you not fear Allāh?
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Ith qala lahum shuAAaybun alatattaqoon — 🔊
Ayah 178
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ Innee lakum rasoolun ameen — 🔊
Ayah 179
So fear Allāh and obey me.
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 180
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 181
Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.
۞ أَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْسِرِينَ Awfoo alkayla wala takoonoo minaalmukhsireen — 🔊
Ayah 182
And weigh with an even [i.e., honest] balance.
وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ Wazinoo bilqistasialmustaqeem — 🔊
Ayah 183
And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.
وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ Wala tabkhasoo annasaashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee al-ardimufsideen — 🔊
Ayah 184
And fear He who created you and the former creation.”1
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Wattaqoo allathee khalaqakumwaljibillata al-awwaleen — 🔊
Ayah 185
They said, “You are only of those affected by magic.
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareen — 🔊
Ayah 186
You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.
وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ Wama anta illa basharunmithluna wa-in nathunnuka lamina alkathibeen — 🔊
Ayah 187
So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful.”
فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ Faasqit AAalayna kisafan minaassama-i in kunta mina assadiqeen — 🔊
Ayah 188
He said, “My Lord is most knowing of what you do.”
قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ Qala rabbee aAAlamu bimataAAmaloon — 🔊
Ayah 189
And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ Fakaththaboohu faakhathahumAAathabu yawmi aththullati innahu kanaAAathaba yawmin AAatheem — 🔊
Ayah 190
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 191
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem — 🔊
Ayah 192
And indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Wa-innahu latanzeelu rabbi alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 193
The Trustworthy Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down
نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ Nazala bihi arroohu al-ameen — 🔊
Ayah 194
Upon your heart, [O Muḥammad] - that you may be of the warners -
عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ AAala qalbika litakoona mina almunthireen — 🔊
Ayah 195
In a clear Arabic language.
بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ Bilisanin AAarabiyyin mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 196
And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Wa-innahu lafee zuburi al-awwaleen — 🔊
Ayah 197
And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ Awa lam yakun lahum ayatan anyaAAlamahu AAulamao banee isra-eel — 🔊
Ayah 198
And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners1
وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ Walaw nazzalnahu AAala baAAdial-aAAjameen — 🔊
Ayah 199
And he had recited it to them [perfectly] they would [still] not have been believers in it.
فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ Faqaraahu AAalayhim ma kanoobihi mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 200
Thus have We inserted it [i.e., disbelief] into the hearts of the criminals.
كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَـٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ Kathalika salaknahu feequloobi almujrimeen — 🔊
Ayah 201
They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ La yu/minoona bihi hattayarawoo alAAathaba al-aleem — 🔊
Ayah 202
And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.
فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ Faya/tiyahum baghtatan wahum layashAAuroon — 🔊
Ayah 203
And they will say, “May we be reprieved?”
فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ Fayaqooloo hal nahnu muntharoon — 🔊
Ayah 204
So for Our punishment are they impatient?
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloon — 🔊
Ayah 205
Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years
أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ سِنِينَ Afaraayta in mattaAAnahum sineen — 🔊
Ayah 206
And then there came to them that which they were promised?
ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ Thumma jaahum ma kanooyooAAadoon — 🔊
Ayah 207
They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ Ma aghna AAanhum ma kanooyumattaAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 208
And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illalaha munthiroon — 🔊
Ayah 209
As a reminder; and never have We been unjust.
ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ Thikra wama kunnathalimeen — 🔊
Ayah 210
And the devils have not brought it [i.e., the revelation] down
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ Wama tanazzalat bihi ashshayateen — 🔊
Ayah 211
It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ Wama yanbaghee lahum wamayastateeAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 212
Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed
إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ Innahum AAani assamAAilamaAAzooloona — 🔊
Ayah 213
So do not invoke with Allāh another deity and [thus] be among the punished.
فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ Fala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara fatakoona mina almuAAaththabeen — 🔊
Ayah 214
And warn, [O Muḥammad], your closest kindred.
وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ Waanthir AAasheerataka al-aqrabeen — 🔊
Ayah 215
And lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to those who follow you of the believers.
وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Wakhfid janahakalimani ittabaAAaka mina almu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 216
And if they disobey you, then say, “Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing.”
فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ Fa-in AAasawka faqul innee baree-onmimma taAAmaloon — 🔊
Ayah 217
And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ Watawakkal AAala alAAazeezi arraheem — 🔊
Ayah 218
Who sees you when you arise1
ٱلَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ Allathee yaraka heenataqoom — 🔊
Ayah 219
And your movement among those who prostrate
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ Wataqallubaka fee assajideen — 🔊
Ayah 220
Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ Innahu huwa assameeAAu alAAaleem — 🔊
Ayah 221
Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?
هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ Hal onabbi-okum AAala man tanazzaluashshayateen — 🔊
Ayah 222
They descend upon every sinful liar.
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ Tanazzalu AAala kulli affakinatheem — 🔊
Ayah 223
They pass on what is heard and most of them are liars.
يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَـٰذِبُونَ Yulqoona assamAAa waaktharuhum kathiboon — 🔊
Ayah 224
And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ WashshuAAaraoyattabiAAuhumu alghawoon — 🔊
Ayah 225
Do you not see that in every valley they roam1
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadinyaheemoon — 🔊
Ayah 226
And that they say what they do not do? -
وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ Waannahum yaqooloona ma layafAAaloon — 🔊
Ayah 227
Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allāh often and defend [the Muslims]1 after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ Illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati wathakaroo Allahakatheeran wantasaroo min baAAdi ma thulimoowasayaAAlamu allatheena thalamoo ayyamunqalabin yanqaliboon — 🔊
